Realistic Audio Behaviour in Videogames

This is a demo video showcasing my final honours project. 

 

The idea was to give objects in the virtual environment audio properties like absorption rates and transmission rates based on their real life counterparts actual audio properties. Ray tracing is then used to map the path of the sounds propagation around the environment, all while sampling the objects it intersects with to determine what effects/ influences it has on the sounds.

 

This project was completed in unity developed in such a way that I hope to export it as an asset library for use in other projects.
